BIOL 1010 - Introduction to Biology
4 sem hrs cr (3 hours lecture-3 hours laboratory) This course examines basic biological principles and surveys the kingdoms of living organisms. Specific topics include: cell structure and function, cell processes and reproduction, inheritance, taxonomy, viruses, bacteria, protists, fungi, plants, animals, and ecology. Prerequisite: Exemption from or completion of learning support competency courses. In rare and unusual circumstances, a course prerequisite can be overridden with the permission of the Curriculum lead for the discipline. BIOL 1010 cannot be combined with any other BIOL course to complete the General Education natural science requirement. (Formerly BIO 1000, BIO 1410, BIOL 1030) This course may include proctored exams which must be completed on campus or at an instructor approved proctoring center which may require additional costs to the student. Please consult your instructor for additional details.
